The goal of our Circular Economy approach is, to ensure supply security and competitive sustainable sourcing of alloy elements, high purity scrap and graphite electrodes. Therefore, we established three pillars: Recycling of by-products (like scales and dusts) We want to make sure, that by-products that occur in the metals melting & processing, are sorted and recovered as grade specific as possible. For this we evaluate the material flows at our production sites and develop strategies for internal recycling. Secondary raw material sources The utilization of external secondary raw materials enables access to key materials. For this we cooperate with non-steel producers, to make their waste usable and avoid disposal of valuable alloys. Material and scrap cycles We close material loops for scraps and end of life tools with customers and tool users to increase the recycling rate of our products and decrease the overall ecological footprint. Moreover, we create long-lasting win-win partnerships along our value chain. The holistic HPM Sustainability Strategy covers social, environmental and economic aspects.
